Description

Our patterns are developed specially for Romney Marsh Wools by Sarah Hartles, one of our lovely knitters and friends.

This leaflet contains all the information you need to create your own Romney wool Moss hat, with images of each stage to help you!

Materials:

  • 100g of Pure British Romney Chunky Yarn.
  • 1 pair of 6mm needles.
  • NB the yarn weights do not include the yarn needed for the pom-pom, we used 35g of contrasting yarn in our pom-pom.

This winter we are supporting the FCN by supplying a lable in our patterns and kits for hats. The campaign hopes to raise awareness of the importance of good mental health in farming, encouraging people to keep the FCN Helpline number close to our heads in case they need to talk to someone during the winter months, which can be cold and challenging at times. The label supplied can be sewn in and gifted to a friend who may work in the agricultrial sector.

I bought the ribbed and the moss stitch pattern hats and made them up and love them.I am ordering more wool for another one. Two things :- I think the pattern should say how big the inner hole should be for the pom pom - I made it 3 cm as have read it should be about a quarter of the whole diameter, but it may use a lot of wool. I haven't finished it yet. Also - are you absolutely sure about the crown shaping instructions for the moss hat? The numbering didn't quite work for me so I just sort of carried on. Also, it would help if the number of stitches left on the needle was listed on each decrease! I shall wait to see how these hats are received at Christmas! We love the soap anyway - we bought the large one at Great Dixter.
