This is a really lovely fleece easy to card and spin. My technique is improving because it is so user friendly . Used to have sheep of my own in the 1970’s and 80’s but life got complicated and I am now in my 70 ‘s and starting up spinning again ! Bought myself a wheel and thoroughly enjoying this very special hobby!

Description
Discover the natural beauty of grey Romney wool, grown by the sheep rather than created using artificial dyes.
This British Romney fleece combines natural colour with the breed’s characteristically long, crimped staple. It can be spun into distinctive naturally grey yarn, blended with other fibres or used as a base for deeper, more muted hand-dyed shades.
The fleece is supplied completely raw. It has not been washed, scoured, carded, combed, dyed or bleached and will require preparation before use.

Before spinning or felting, sort the fleece and then scour and card or comb it according to your preferred preparation method.
Raw wool naturally contains lanolin and may include dust, vegetable matter, stained tips, occasional second cuts and other traces of farm life. The level of natural material will vary between packs.
The listed weight is the raw weight. The clean, usable fibre will weigh less after lanolin, moisture, dirt and any unsuitable sections have been removed.
Natural grey fleece is not a single uniform colour. Its depth and tone can vary between sheep, production batches and different sections of the fleece. These variations can create beautiful depth in finished yarn and textile projects.

Over the years I have spun a lot of fleece and I can honestly say this is so beautiful ( spun in the grease) I’ve ordered more on the strength ( grey & dark) the hand spun yarn plyed and was is so soft too. Such a gorgeous fleece.
This is my favourite - full of lanolin and wonderful to work with. I have been using for weaving seat cushions and this has held really well. The service from Romney Marsh was amazing and when we had issues with the courier they were really helpful. Can’t wait for it to be back in stock!
I was very pleased with my Romney fleece. I carded it with some silk as I can‘t wear wool next to my skin and knitted a stripped jumper with my own Zwartble sheep carded with cashmere. I am so pleased with my jumper. Carding your merino fleece now. I shall be back for more. Good quality, and a good price. I did not have to compost a single bit of your fleece.
