Marsh Fern is a naturally grey twill fabric woven from 100% wool from our own Romney flock. Undyed and unbleached, this distinctive British wool cloth is approximately 158cm wide and available by the metre or as a 10cm × 10cm sample.

Celebrate the natural shades of our Romney flock with Marsh Fern, a traditional textured twill fabric woven from 100% British wool.
The grey colour is achieved by carefully blending naturally coloured Romney fleeces rather than bleaching or artificially dyeing the fibre. The result is a characterful grey cloth with subtle tonal depth and an authentic connection to the sheep that produced it.
The traditional twill construction gives Marsh Fern its distinctive diagonal weave and structured handle, making it suitable for a wide range of sewing, clothing and craft projects.

Because its colour comes from a natural blend of fleeces, gentle tonal variations may occur between batches. These differences are part of the cloth’s authentic character rather than faults.
We strongly recommend ordering a sample before committing to a larger quantity. This allows you to assess the fabric’s natural colour, weight, texture and drape in your own lighting and alongside other planned materials.
