Handmade Romney Wool Shepherdess Decoration

Celebrate the heritage and character of the Romney Marsh with our Handmade Romney Wool Shepherdess Decoration.

Each shepherdess is lovingly handcrafted using topped Romney fleece from our own flock. The wool is coloured using natural dyes derived from plants and locally inspired materials, including Kentish walnuts, madder, nettles and dyer’s mulberry.

Every character carries our signature Romney Marsh shepherd’s crook—the distinctive symbol at the heart of our logo. Traditionally designed with a long handle for helping sheep from the Marsh’s drainage ditches, its generous curved head was shaped to accommodate the larger size of the Romney sheep.

The shepherdesses are created for us by the talented Kent-based mother-and-daughter team at Felt and Caboodle. Made using slow, traditional craft techniques, each character has her own colouring, clothing and individual personality.

Beautifully presented in a gift box, this characterful decoration makes a thoughtful gift for sheep lovers, shepherdesses, collectors and anyone with a connection to the Romney Marsh. Hang her from a Christmas tree, display her in a bedroom or add her to a craft room, shelf or other decorative space throughout the year.
