We welcome guests to stay with us on the farm throughout the year in our beautiful Romney Marsh Shepherds Huts, and the late spring and early summer months prove especially popular - especially as there is often the chance to meet and feed our pet lambs!
Situated on the heart of our family farm, here on the Romney Marsh, with far reaching views and vast, open skies our Shepherds Huts provide the perfect place to relax & recharge as well as an excellent base for exploring the local Kent coast, countryside and all there is to see right on the doorstep.
Built to bespoke designs for us by Julian from Elham Valley Shepherds Huts, our Shepherds Huts are based on original 1900's plans, but with our own upgrades and extras to add a little luxury and make for a comfortable, cosy stay. We have tried to think of everything, and so the Shepherds Huts are fully equipped with a cosy double bed, built in shower room & toilet, kitchenette with 2 ring hob, sink, fridge, kettle, coffee machine & toaster as well as an outdoor firepit with grill to cook over. Plus, there's a log burner, with a supply of logs, which is excellent for keeping the huts toasty on winter nights or cooler evenings throughout the year.
We have also included our own Romney Marsh Wools lanolin rich toiletries and Romney Wool snuggles to keep you warm, with complimentary locally produced tea, coffee and milk on arrival. Our handy 'Touch Stay' app, which is sent out on confirmation of booking includes all the information you need about your stay, as well as lots of suggestions for local days out and extras that may be added for your stay.
The Lookerer, is so named in memory of the farm's Marsh Shepherd, who lived across the road at Hurst Farm and whose lambing field is where the huts are situated. Meanwhile Rumwold takes its name from our local church, St Rumwold's, which is off-grid and one of the very few churches thagt has no electricity and has a traditional pump organ. This beautiful landmark is within walking distance and can be visited during daylight hours.
2022 has been busy for the huts so far, and it's been lovely welcoming both new and returning guests, all of whom comment on the peace and tranquility of the surroundings and many of which have met our flock of sheep who graze in the field surrounding the huts and even helped us with bottle feeding the pet lambs.
