Event - Chilham Castle BE International 03 August 2013 information   Visitor Information   BE 80 (Training)     We are very proud to be holding our seventh British Eventing Horse Trials and this year we have been invited to add an INTERNATIONAL CIC* class.  We hope all riders, spectators and volunteers enjoy a fantastic day in the beautiful landscape, originally laid out by Capability Brown in the 18th century. Eventing is the ultimate challenge for horse and rider, testing the horse’s obedience, ability and stamina and the rider’s control, skill and knowledge. The trial is split into three phases: dressage, show-jumping and cross-country.   Dressage   Will test the harmony, balance and ability of the horse and rider. All competitors will attempt to perform the prescribed movements in the same order in the dressage arena.   Show Jumping   Is designed to test the jumping ability of the horse and the skill and control of the rider over a moderate course of typical show jumps.   Cross Country   Is a major test of the skill and bravery of horse and rider. They have to deal at speed with the height and spread of the fences, as well as the natural contrasts in the environment.     First Time as a spectator at a Horse Trials?   Helpful information   Spectators are encouraged to walk the cross country course. You are reminded that half-a-tonne of horse travelling at speed cannot swerve easily, so please keep children under control, dogs on leads and stay out of the path of the horses. Please listen for the whistles warning of the approach of a competitor. Please obey all instructions given by officials.     What to wear? We can’t control the English weather! August can be anything from a blazing hot sunny day to heavy rain, so please make sure you are wearing appropriate clothing and footwear. High heels are not practical, particularly if you want to walk the cross country course. Please be aware that Chilham Park is undulating parkland and if there has been rain it can be muddy and slippery, particularly on the cross country course. Dogs Well behaved dogs are welcome at Chilham Park but must be kept on lead AT ALL TIMES.  Admission Car Pass : Entry Fee will be confirmed nearer the date of competition Time to arrive?
